
BOSTON – Ernst & Young LLP has named 33 finalists for its 2008 New England Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, which will be presented during a June 24 gala at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel.
The event will also feature the presentation of a special Master Entrepreneur of the Year Award to John W. Henry, principal owner of the Boston Red Sox.
“These finalists are the best of the best, embodying the unique spirit of entrepreneurship,” Bryan Pearce, the firm’s entrepreneur of the year program director for New England, said yesterday in unveiling the list. “They positively impact our region in a major way, through jobs, community growth and development and innovation. The regional finalists were selected by an independent judging panel of past award recipients, Ernst & Young said.
Winners of the New England Regional Award will be considered for the Ernst & Young’s 2008 national awards program. The National Entrepreneur of the Year and national winners in a number of other categories will be announced during a Nov. 15 gala in Palm Springs, Calif., that will be the culminating event of the annual Ernst & Young Strategic Growth Forum.
The awards program, now in its 22nd year, now recognizes business leaders in more than 135 cities in 50 nations. It honors entrepreneurs who demonstrate extraordinary success in the areas of innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.
