COX BUSINESS MANAGED WiFi is now available in Rhode Island.

WEST WARWICK – Cox Business Managed WiFi is now available to all business customers in Rhode Island, the company has announced.

The service provides a commercial-grade, secure connection to the internet via Wi-Fi. Cox Business Managed WiFi was trialed in Rhode Island with local restaurant Piezoni’s, which has a location in Warwick.

“Our business requires that customers wait for their food, and with Cox Business Managed WiFi, they no longer mind the extra minutes when we are busy,” said Victor Martinez, chief operating officer, Piezoni’s. “We are in the restaurant business and don’t have the time to waste on slow WiFi providers.”

“Employees and customers expect superior connectivity while working, shopping – or in some situations – waiting. Cox Business Managed WiFi delivers superior network management, with security and agile functionality,” said Steve Rowley, executive vice president of sales, Cox Business, which has a location in Warwick.

Cox Business Managed WiFi is designed to deliver speeds up to 1 gigabit per second for private and public Wi-Fi networks and has an option to choose the speed of guest bandwidth. The solution’s technologies provide Wi-Fi coverage for up to 36,000 square feet indoors, or up to 24,000 square feet indoors and 12,000 square feet outdoors.

Cox Business Managed WiFi allows businesses to extend marketing and awareness campaigns with interstitial splash pages and branded Wi-Fi networks and portals. Security is provided via network pass codes, splash-page login and rogue access-point detection, among other features.

Mobility is another feature built in to Cox Business Managed WiFi. It supports mobile point-of-sale systems and bring-your-own-device users accessing work-wired systems such as printers and servers. Apps are protected from online attacks with a firewall, said Cox in a press release, and content filtering keeps everyone on task while on the business network.

Cox Business Managed WiFi helps support internet of things solutions by enabling connectivity for devices without WPA-AES, or with Wi-Fi protected-access advanced encryption-standard encryption capability and that lack a browser for splash-page authentication.

Cox Business is the commercial division of Cox Communications, providing voice, data, security and other solutions for more than 350,000 businesses nationwide in industries such as health care, education and government.
