The award comes after GottaQ Smokehouse BBQ placed third for three consecutive years.
“I was literally in tears,” said owner Michael Strout in a statement. “We feel that as long as we keep our quality up, keep our customer service up, keep our staff happy and keep moving forward, that there’s never a time when we shouldn’t be number one.”
The Cumberland-based business beat out 550 other contenders from across the U.S.
The three-year-old company’s award-winning barbecue can be found at their two brick-and-mortar locations, at 2000 and 4120 Mendon Road in Cumberland, as well as served on their two food trucks, BBQ trailer and mobile smoker at the following times:
- 11:30 to 2:00 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday at Kennedy Plaza in downtown Providence
- 5:00 p.m. every Friday for Food Truck Friday at Roger Williams Park Carousel Village
GottaQ Smokehouse BBQ also offers catering for events of varying sizes.
