Forbes names 5 R.I. wealth advisers among ‘Best-In-State Next-Gen Advisors’

PROVIDENCE – Forbes magazine recently released its nationwide list of “Best-In-State Next-Gen Advisors,” and five from Rhode Island were recognized.

The Ocean State wealth advisers included: Bill Whitfield and Nathan Hickney, both of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management in Providence; Ben Tuthill of Wells Fargo Advisors in Providence; Ashley Abbate Macksoud of Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in Providence; and Nick Loring of Loring Advisory Group in Smithfield.

The ranking recognized advisers born in 1980 or later with a minimum of four years of experience. Nationwide, 6,389 advisers were considered and 1,495, or 23% of candidates, were recognized.

The magazine sought to find out which advisers best represent the future of the wealth-management industry.

Forbes said advisers were rated based on a “proprietary algorithm” of qualitative and quantitative criteria that included in-person interviews, industry experience, compliance records, revenue produced and assets under management.

Massachusetts placed 67 wealth advisers on the list, but none were based in nearby Bristol County. As expected, a large majority of them were clustered in and around Boston.
