PROVIDENCE – Rebecca Boss, who earned national recognition during her tenure as head of the R.I. Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals, has rejoined CODAC Behavioral Healthcare as its new chief operating officer.

Boss is returning to CODAC, where she served as program director in 2004, as the organization’s chief operating officer and vice president of strategic development. In her new role, she will implement programming and supervise clinical and operational aspects of the organization.

In addition, Boss will be responsible for developing initiatives to cross state borders into Massachusetts and for gaining national traction for CODAC’s consulting and training.

Boss will work closely with CODAC CEO Linda Hurley, who said she is excited for her return to the organization.

“We could see early on at CODAC that Rebecca was remarkably committed to her patients. She provided cutting-edge and creative programming that would follow her to BHDDH, where she would develop … nationally recognized programs that connected people with recovery and established peer recovery in emergency rooms,” Hurley said. “We always knew she would become a national leader, and we can’t wait to see what she does next.”

During her time at BHDDH, Boss received national acclaim for her work on developing integrated care models for behavioral health. She was also a driving force behind efforts to expand medication-assisted treatment for opioid addiction throughout the state.

“I am excited about the opportunity to rejoin CODAC to continue to ensure access to quality, community-based behavioral health care services,” Boss said. “CODAC has continually demonstrated a commitment to its mission, the people served and our community for nearly 50 years. Having worked with CODAC, I believe we can take our experience to a national level to have an even greater impact.”
