Frazier to be Airport Corporation’s interim CEO

WARWICK – Peter A. Frazier, the R.I. Airport Corporation’s general counsel, will take over as the organization’s interim president and CEO beginning this Saturday, Dec. 1. He was approved yesterday by the board of directors to fill the gap left by the resignation of Mark P. Brewer.
Frazier – who joined RIAC on Feb. 28, 2005, as its first in-house counsel – will oversee the organization’s day-to-day operations during the search for a new president and CEO.
“The board recognizes Peter’s involvement in a number of critical airport projects and feels he will serve the corporation well in the interim position,” Dr. Kathleen Hittner, the board’s president, said in a statement last night. “He and the entire RIAC staff will continue to keep projects moving forward during this period of transition.”
A national search is planned. A committee of RIAC board members will begin interviewing candidates in the weeks ahead, with the hope of identifying a permanent successor early next year, the corporation said.
In other news, RIAC said yesterday, airport parking management company Standard Parking will begin operations at T.F. Green Airport this Saturday.
Changes will include:
• Free bumper-to-bumper shuttle bus service to and from passengers’ vehicles in long-term express parking Lot E. Shuttle drivers will also assist passengers with the loading and unloading of bags.
• The addition of six compressed natural gas shuttle buses that will be fueled at the airport’s own CNG facility. The new shuttles are white with blue and green graphics that say Green Express and Airport Parking.
• The opening to general parking of Garage B, the former valet parking location, where spaces will be available for $17 per day. RIAC said it is currently reviewing valet parking options.
“We continue to make improvements, bringing more parking options online and employing the use of environmentally conscious CNG vehicles,” Brewer said in a statement. “Travelers can look forward to exciting new parking promotions in the months to come.”
The R.I. Airport Corporation is a quasi-public organization, based at T.F. Green Airport in Warwick, that oversees T.F. Green and the state’s five general aviation airports. Additional information, including parking rates, is available at www.pvdairport.com.
