
Senate President M. Teresa Paiva Weed on March 22 announced she would immediately leave her Statehouse leadership post to become president of the Hospital Association of Rhode Island, a health care trade organization. In so doing, she switched from the role of representative of the people to lobbyist, whose job is to influence political decision-makers.
