On Sunday, June 30th, from 1-3pm Mount Hope Farm is partnering with the 4-H Revolutionaries of Bristolto host “Go Go Geocache!”  an afternoon of good healthy outdoor fun for the whole family.   The Geocache event is part of Mount Hope Farm’s Let’s Play Outside Series, a variety of family friendly events held throughout the year and aimed at promoting healthy, creative ways to enjoy the Farm’s 127 acres of open space.

What is Geocaching? It is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices or smart phone apps. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates to find the geocache container hidden at that location.

Geocachers of all levels are welcome.  4-H leaders and club members will be on hand to introduce the geocache program, provide maps to geocache locations as well as “photo op spots” around the Farm, and 4-H members will be stationed throughout the grounds to lend a hand to treasure hunters.  Children who complete their treasure maps can pull a prize from our treasure chest and all participating kids will receive a coupon for a FREE Kids Scoop at Super Scoops in Warren! There will be a limited number of GPS systems available to borrow during the event, and participants are encouraged to download a geocache app on your smartphone.

“The Board and Staff at Mount Hope Farm are committed to building programs that emphasize creative, healthy use of our open space,” said Executive Director Jennifer Bristol. “Our Let’s Play Outside series is designed to provide family friendly activities and a sense of community for our youth.”
