PROVIDENCE – The Get Started Rhode Island pitch competition will take place on Oct. 4 at the WaterFire Arts Center, Cox Business announced Wednesday.
Entrepreneurs will compete for a chance to win a prize package valued up to $50,000, including $25,000 cash.

Finalists for the competition are:
- Richard McDonald and Clemens Grave for Finnest, a prepaid debit card account and mobile app for kids
- Nico Enriquez for Farmer Willie’s, an alcoholic low-sugar craft ginger beer
- Linden Wyatt for Phlip Diagnostics, which utilizes a pH-Low Insertion Peptide platform to distinguish between healthy and cancerous tissue
- Vishnu Dantu for Predictive Optics, a continuous imaging system that integrates with surgical scopes
- Victor Ricci for Trend Pie, which connects companies’,social influencers and content specialists to drive new audience and downloads
- Alex Tavares for Tvar EdTech, with a flagship product Read Read, which is a phonics teaching device that allows both sighted and blind students to learn foundational reading skills without a teacher’s direct instruction
PBN Editor Mark S. Murphy is among the four panelist judges. Other judges include Melissa Withers, the managing director of Betaspring; James Ledbetter, editor at Inc. magazine; and Thorne Sparkman, managing director at the Slater Technology Fund.
Ken Kraft, the senior vice president of marketing and sales operations for Cox Business, is the events moderator.
