General Growth Properties (GGP), the operator of Providence Place, has appointed William Malone as general manager.
Malone was most recently vice president for GGP’s Northeast region, spending five years in that position. Before that he did stints as general manager at malls in Connecticut, Tennessee, Michigan and Ohio. He was also an assistant general manager at Southlake Mall in Merrillville, Ind.
Malone holds a bachelor’s in sociology with a minor in English from Tennessee Technological University and is a Certified Shopping Center Manager. He lives in Douglas, Mass., with his wife and four children.
takes the reigns of the mall at a time when GGP is going through a Chapter 11 bankruptcy process. Although the mall remains profitable, GGP has included it, along with about 166 other shopping centers, in the filing. In August, a judge denied a motion by some lenders to remove Providence Place from the filing.
