–Former Location Now “Gold Lady Galleria” Gift Shop–
December 14, 2010 – Wickford, RI – Gold Lady Jewelers announced today that the popular jewelry store has expanded to a new Wickford, Rhode Island retail location, 30 Phillips Street. Built in the 1920’s, the historic property was most recently a bank and offers a prime location with abundant parking for customers.
Since 1980, Gold Lady Jewelers has been known to specialize in diamonds, precious metals, and stones as well as custom-designing. Owner Charles Phillips purchased the new building in September and spent five weeks renovating the space. The store is now open for the holiday shopping season and, for the grand opening, every item in the store is specially priced.
“I’ve always thought it would be a great location for a jewelry store,” said Phillips of the new location. “We took some time to renovate and returned the building to the original condition of the handsome, brick structure.”
Gold Lady Jewelers began as a business that bought gold, precious metals and stones, which is still a large part of the business today. Phillips’ entrepreneur spirit began with the creation of Phillips Surfboards, a company that is highly recognized in the surfboard industry. But for the past 30 years Gold Lady Jewelers has been Phillips’ passion and the exceptional service is known locally and regionally.
“Our clients have made Gold Lady Jewelers a success. We have long-time customers that travel from Massachusetts and Connecticut to visit us,” said Lisa Malin, Manager. “We have in-house jewelers that have done everything from redesigning heirloom pieces to designing new custom pieces. In addition, we do our own repair work so customers are at ease knowing that their items never leave our store.”
The new space features an enormous vault, courtesy of the banks that have previously occupied the location, an open floor plan, large windows and the largest parking lot in Wickford with 26 spaces. Phillips also does what he can to help support the local economy. He added three new employees to his staff, with the potential to hire more.
The former location of Gold Lady Jewelers, at One Brown Street, is now Gold Lady Galleria, a new gift shop with brands such as Lilly Pulitzer, Jonathan Adler, Waterford Crystal, Stonewall Kitchen, Empire, Reed, & Barton in addition to sterling silver and costume jewelry pieces. The eclectic mix of antiques, gifts, and furnishings offers something for everyone on a gift list.
Phillips continued, “The Wickford community has been great to the business and our loyal customers have been extremely supportive with our move. I am excited for the upcoming years for both of our stores and look forward to welcoming new and long-time clients alike.”
