PROVIDENCE – LottoTech Ltd. has selected GTECH Corp. to assist it with the installation and operation of a national online and instant-ticket lottery system on the African island nation of Mauritius, the company announced.
The country of Mauritius, located approximately 560 miles east of Madagascar, awarded the 10-year license to LottoTech after a competitive bidding process. LottoTech will operate the lottery system until April 15, 2019.
“GTECH is pleased to join with LottoTech as its exclusive technology provider for the implementation of the Mauritius National Lottery,” GTECH president and CEO Jaymin B. Patel said in a statement. “We will deliver a world-class lottery platform and solutions specifically tailored for the Mauritian market and look forward to assisting our clients with applying industry best practices to build a very successful lottery for the people of Mauritius … that will generate significant funds for the various good causes.”
Under the terms of the license, GTECH will provide LottoTech with a lottery system technology platform as well as 600 lottery terminals, GTECH said in the statement.

The system is expected to go live in October, with a lottery game released first, followed by instant games.
