GTECH wins bidding for Kentucky online lottery

PROVIDENCE – Lottomatica S.p.A. said its GTECH Corp. division has won the right to run the Kentucky Lottery Corporation’s online lottery.
GTECH’s proposal calls for the company to provide the Kentucky Lottery with a full suite of online and instant systems, 3,000 online lottery terminals, self-service lottery vending machines, a new dual-communications network, and ongoing services.
The proposed seven-year contract is expected to start in June 2011, and allows for eight one-year extension options, for a total of 15 years if all the renewals go through.
The seven-year contract is expected to generate approximately $70 million in revenue for GTECH starting next year.
In addition, GTECH Printing Corp. was selected by the Kentucky Lottery as a secondary provider of instant tickets over a five-year period.
GTECH said it has been providing lottery services in Kentucky for more than 20 years. &#8226
