PROVIDENCE – A historic brick colonial with 4,800 square feet of living space in the College Hill neighborhood recently sold for $1.95 million, according to Compass Providence, which represented the seller.
The two-story home at 252 Bowen St. contains seven bedrooms, three full bathrooms and a half-bathroom.

The man who once owned the home, H. Martin Brown, was the chief of staff for his brother, the former governor of Rhode Island, D. Russell Brown, from 1892 through 1895. H. Martin Brown, a native of Bolton, Conn., was president of the Industrial National Bank of Providence from 1912 to 1924, according to the Rhode Island Historical Society.
The home features updated heating and electrical systems, and it is equipped with three-zone air conditioning, the real estate firm said.
The first floor features glass doors that lead out into the small, fenced-in backyard with a built-in sprinkler system, where there is a 200-square-foot covered patio, according to Compass Providence.
The primary bedroom is on the second floor, featuring two walk-in closets and an attached sitting room, according to the real estate firm.
The home also features a brick-and-marble driveway, according to Compass Providence.
Kira Greene, a founding agent of Compass Providence, represented the seller in this transaction. Spencer Kelleher, of William Raveis Inspire, represented the buyers.
According to the warranty deed, a public record of the sale, the home was sold by Vicki Colvin, of Providence, to Walter Bronhard, of Providence.
