HARI elects new chairwoman, vice chairman to board of trustees

PROVIDENCE – The Hospital Association of Rhode Island has elected a new chairwoman and vice chairman to its board of trustees.

The new chairwoman is Mary Marran, president and chief operating officer of Butler Hospital, and Aaron Robinson, president and chief executive officer of South County Health, has been named vice chairman.

“I’m honored to be elected as chair of the board for Hospital Association of R.I.,” Marran said. “My personal mission to care for the people of our communities aligns directly with HARI’s stated mission of meeting the health care needs of Rhode Island through advocacy, representation, education and services.”

Marran, who has been with Butler Hospital since 1984, was named president in 2017. She is also the interim COO and president of The Providence Center and oversees the behavioral health services line for Care New England.

“Serving as chair to this board will allow me to continue pushing to better serve the people of R.I. along with these excellent partnerships and networks we have created together,” Marran said.

Robinson joined South County Health in 2019. Before then, he was CEO of Community Hospitals in Florida and system service line executive for Heart & Vascular services at Health First. He brings experience as a practicing physical therapist and as a leader in community hospitals and health system environments

“The hospital and healthcare industry are facing unprecedented challenges coming out of two plus years of a global pandemic where we have honorably and effectively served the Rhode Island Community,” Robinson said. “It will take extraordinary partnership between all healthcare providers, our elected officials, and our community to create sustainability and resiliency in our health system. I look forward to working with HARI in this leadership capacity to ensure that Rhode Islanders have ongoing access to the best healthcare now and in the years to come.”
