PROVIDENCE – Hasbro Children’s Hospital has named Dr. Rishi Lulla as its new chief of pediatric hematology and oncology.
Lulla comes to the Lifespan Corp. hospital after years as an attending physician in Chicago hospitals. He was also assistant professor of pediatrics at Northwestern University. Recently, Lulla was honored for outstanding dedication to pediatric neuro-oncology by the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, and he was also named one of Chicago’s top pediatric cancer doctors by Chicago magazine, according to a statement on his appointment from Lifespan.

Lulla earned his medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine and completed his residency and fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago.
After completing his residency and fellowship at Northwestern, Lulla spent several years as an attending physician on the pediatric neuro-oncology team at Northwestern.
Lulla’s scientific work has been published in more than 20 peer-reviewed journals and two books. He has presented his findings on pediatric central nervous system tumors at the local, national and international levels, and has served as principal investigator to multiple grant-sponsored research investigations. His current research is focused on translating laboratory findings into novel treatments for children with brain and spinal cord tumors.
Lulla served as the executive chair of the Children’s Brain Tumor Tissue Consortium and is an active member of the American Society of Pediatric Hematology Oncology, the Children’s Oncology Group and the Society of Neuro-Oncology.
