PROVIDENCE – Hasbro Children’s Hospital raised over $1.1 million at its annual Heroes Ball on Saturday, an event that also marked the hospital’s 25th anniversary and kicked off a fundraising campaign for Hasbro Children’s and Bradley Hospitals.
Money raised at the ball will support Hasbro programs such as Child Life and Healing Arts, both of which aim to improve the emotional well-being of children and their families while in the hospital.

The gala, attended by more than 800 people at the Rhode Island Convention Center, raised $266,900 for renovations to the pediatric pre- and post-surgical areas, according to a news release.
“Hasbro Children’s has changed the face of pediatric care for a generation of patients and families in Rhode Island and in our region,” Margaret M. Van Bree, president of Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital, said Saturday. “And as thrilled as we are with our hospital’s past, we are even more excited as we look toward the future and our vision of a healthier world for all children.”
The ball featured an aerialist performing 30-feet in the air and songs from the Rhode Island Children’s Chorus.
“The breakthroughs we’ve had in two-and-a-half decades have changed and saved countless lives,” Lawrence A. Aubin, chairman of the Lifespan board of directors and the Rhode Island Hospital board of trustees, said on Saturday. “To everyone who helped to build Hasbro Children’s and made it what it is today, you are a hero because you changed the landscape of pediatric care forever.”
Also at the Heroes Ball, Van Bree and Al Verrecchia, the former chairman of Hasbro Inc., announced the public phase of “Every Child, Every Day,” the campaign to raise for Hasbro Children’s and Bradley Hospital.
“This new campaign will create the foundation for our next 25-years by modernizing our two pediatric hospitals to match their world-class medical teams,” said Verrecchia, who will serve as the campaign’s chairman ” ‘Every Child, Every Day’ will also grow essential programs and expand lifesaving research in an atmosphere of healing that’s devoted entirely to kids.”
