NEWPORT – Maker of luxury yachts, The Hinckley Co. of Newport celebrated its design for the world’s first fully electric luxury yacht, the Hinckley Dasher, at the start of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in Florida.

The manufacturer hosted an exclusive breakfast at a hotel near the boat show venue, where it featured products for Hinckley and Hunt Yachts, a Portsmouth company that Hinckley owns, along with Morris Yachts in Newport.

The boat show also marks the first time the Dasher was on display in the water, according to a Hinckley press release.

At just over 28 feet long, the Hinckley Dasher sports a carbon-epoxy composite hull, twin 80-horsepower electric motors and dual BMW i3 lithium-ion batteries for silent propulsion, efficient cooling and zero emissions. Its open layout allows for various configurations.
Hinckley expects deliveries of the Dasher model in summer 2018.
