WARREN – The $3.2 million Hope & Main culinary incubator officially opened Friday in the renovated former Main Street School with a ribbon cutting including town, state and federal officials.
The 17,500-square-foot incubator, which includes three shared-use commercial kitchens and 6,000 square feet of production space, is already being used by 30 food-related startups that began working there last month.
Hope & Main was financed by a $2.9 million U.S. Department of Agriculture loan and the ribbon cutting included Democratic U.S. Sens. Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse, plus USDA Director of Community Programs Daniel R. Beaudette.
Along with the shared-use kitchens, Hope & Main features cold and dry storage, a 2,000-square-foot community event space, and commercial equipment for baking, food processing and catering.
Hope & Main plans to host a weekly farmers market on the grounds where member companies and local producers can sell to customers.
