
Since hitting a small peak on Dec. 3, the Dow Jones Industrial Average has lost 8.5 percent of its value (although since hitting a record on Sept. 17, the Dow has lost 11.5 percent in value). On the year, Dow investors have lost 6.4 percent. This after posting a gain in 2017 of 24.4 percent. While the turnaround is not good news for investors, it is perhaps the need for Dramamine that makes the ride so difficult. Volatility is not an abstract concept these days.
