PROVIDENCE, RI (September 14, 2009) – The Providence Center, a community-based, outpatient behavioral health organization, announces Ian A. Lang to the position of Chief Strategy Officer. Lang will coordinate and manage federal appropriations, promote effective communication among internal departments and investigate new opportunities for the growth of the organization.

Lang has extensive experience in federal and state government, organizational development, and non-profit organizations. He worked as Chief of Staff at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, where he was instrumental in efforts to redesign the substance abuse delivery system in the state. In Rhode Island he served as campaign manager for Senator Lincoln Chafee’s 2006 re-election effort and, most recently, co-founded Lang Taylor, Ltd., a public affairs and strategic development consulting firm in Providence that worked with both local and national non-profits and businesses.

Lang holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. He currently resides in Providence, Rhode Island.
