InQuest continues its expansion into government markets with its selection by the City of Providence to provide an online plan review and permitting system

Providence, RI – February 2, 2010 – InQuest Technologies, software developer of IQ9 – a configurable application platform for automating mission critical business processes, has been awarded a contract for the Electronic Plan Review System (“ePlan Review System”) for the City of Providence, Rhode Island.

The ePlan Review System, powered by IQ9, will automate the entire permitting plan review process, eliminate excess paperwork, provide real-time visibility to project status, and provide for future extensions to create the next-generation “online building department.” The ePlan Review System is expected to cut review times by over 50% and streamline internal processes.

“I am pleased to announce that we’ve launched ePlan Review System, which provides simultaneous online plan review for the first time in the city’s history, and will cut permitting time in half,” said Mayor Cicilline. “This will boost our local economy, keep construction projects moving, and keep our workers working, thanks in part to local Providence business.”

The City’s Department of Inspections and Standards (DIS) is leading the project to implement the ePlan Review System, and will involve all the departments that participate in the plan review process – DIS, Fire Department, Planning Department, Department of Public Works and the Forestry Department, as well as the IT Department. The ePlan Review System will be web-based, leverage the City’s existing data communications and computing infrastructure and standards, and be deployed as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution.

“The opportunity to serve the city of Providence is a profound honor and an exciting opportunity for our company, said Michael Colapietro, President and CEO of InQuest Technologies. At a time when local governments like Providence are seeking new ways to improve service to citizens while increasing internal efficiency, we are thrilled that our success in the commercial architectural, engineering and construction markets has been recognized.”

“We see this as the first step in serving government with more flexible, quickly-usable, web-based solutions to streamline government services, especially those that can have a direct impact on economic growth like building plan reviews, said Colapietro. With the increase in plan review efficiency for all stakeholders, we see this as a great demonstration of how our IQ9 product can be utilized by government for many applications that can be improved and streamlined to lower costs and improve service.”
