IPIC announces $110K in funding for knowledge economy projects

PROVIDENCE – The Innovation Providence Implementation Council announced the availability of $110,000 in grant funding for knowledge economy projects.
The grant funding will be released through a request for proposals process; interested firms are asked to notify Janet Raymond by April 1 and proposals are due April 15.
The funding is expected to be concentrated primarily on short-term projects that will begin within six months and aim to strengthen the local economy in the areas of health care, technology, research and design, alternative energy entrepreneurship and workforce development.
Grants will range from $10,000 to $25,000 and will be awarded in early summer; previous grant recipients are also encouraged to apply.
Funding is provided from the Providence Economic Development Partnership, $70,000; the Rhode Island Foundation $25,000; and the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, $15,000.
