WARWICK – The Newport Harbor Corp. is adding to its ever-expanding roster of Rhode Island restaurants, announcing today the acquisition of the Iron Works Tavern in Warwick. In announcing the purchase, Paul O’Reilly, president and CEO of NHC, said the company will operate the restaurant independently from its Newport Restaurant Group collection of restaurants, at least in the short term.
O’Reilly praised the Jefferson Boulevard eatery, stating, “Iron Works Tavern enjoys an excellent reputation, is centrally located and has a long track record of success.” NHC has no plans to change the name of the restaurant, the price range or what O’Reilly described as “the general tavern feel.”

Iron Works Tavern was opened in 2009 by Lori and Joe Piscopio in the longtime Rhode Island Malleable Iron Works factory across from the InterLink rail and transportation hub near T.F. Green Airport. The restaurant is in the Hilton Garden Hotel, which itself was sold separately earlier this year. Said O’Reilly, “This is a great restaurant with a loyal following, and we look forward to working with the talented staff.”
Terms of the purchase were not disclosed. Newport Restaurant Group owns, in addition to its Newport properties The Mooring, 22 Bowens, The Smokehouse and Castle Hill Inn, both Waterman Grille and Hemenway’s in Providence, Avvio in Cranston, The Boat House in Tiverton and Trio in Narragansett.
