    Director of Finance

    Full-Time Position

    The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing the school’s business and financial operations, including oversight of the school’s bookkeeping, budgeting, financial reporting, financial planning, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, financial assistance, capital expenses, and facilities maintenance. The Director ensures the school’s sustainability and operational vitality, and manages the school’s resources in support of its educational mission. The Director of Finance works closely with, and reports directly to, the Head of School. This is a 12 month, full-time position with benefits.

    ·         Works collaboratively with the Head of School on a daily basis to ensure stewardship of the school financial and capital resources

    ·         Seeks the advice and counsel of the Chair of the Finance Committee of Advisory Board, except in matters of individuals’ salaries

    ·         Manages financial systems and processes in support of the school’s educational mission

    ·         Establishes financial policies and operational procedures, including purchasing protocols

    ·         Monitors and regulates internal controls

    ·         Leads and guides an annual financial planning process and the updating of the schools three- to five-year financial plan as a component of the school’s strategic planning process

    ·         Develops and manages an annual budget under the vision and direction of the Head of School

    ·         Develops annual budget for facilities, equipment and technology with specific funds for capital improvements, depreciation, and replacement

    ·         Prepares month-end, quarterly, and year-end financial reports, in a timely way

    ·         Prepares budget vs. actual financial reports

    ·         Supervises the student financial assistance process and the distribution of financial aid

    ·         Enforces tuition payment policies

    ·         Facilitates new employee information and payroll onboarding

    ·         Provides supervisory oversight for all bookkeeping functions at the school

    ·         Proposes to the Head of School annual adjustments in tuition and fees

    ·         Oversees payroll information for check processing

    ·         Checks and verifies deposits

    ·         Oversees purchasing operations at the school

    ·         Review contracts annually with outside vendors




    ·         A commitment to the school’s educational mission

    ·         Good customer service skills

    ·         A degree in Accounting, or a degree in Business or Finance with a concentration in Accounting required

    ·         At least 3 years’ experience in Accounting, Business or Finance

    ·         An entrepreneurial spirit dedicated to the school’s growth and sustainability

    ·         An ability to relate positively with colleagues and the school’s leadership team

    ·         A complete understanding of the accounting cycle and deadlines

    ·         Attention to detail and strong analytical skills

    ·         An ability to supervise and manage subordinates

    ·         Adherence to professional and ethical standards

    ·         Experience with budget development and oversight

    ·         Familiarity with contracts

    ·         Excellent computer skills with proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite

    ·         A knowledge of school operations and finance preferred
