PAWTUCKET – Darren Bathgate, a technical architect for Kenzan, a software engineering and professional services company, will present a talk on the benefits of canary releases during a Kenzan Hack Nights Meetup on July 25 from 6-8 p.m. at Kenzan, located in the Hope Artiste Village, Suite 701, at 999 Main St. in Pawtucket.
“A canary deployment is a process in which a set of features are promoted to production with limited exposure to the end user, giving early warning about any issues that may arise, just as coal miners used canaries as indicators of mine contamination,” reads the OSCON website about the presentation. “In canary deployments, only a limited group of users are impacted if there is an issue with the deployment – not the entire user base.”
The talk is based on a presentation Bathgate gave the OSCON Open Source Conference in Portland, Ore., earlier this month.
