Kidoinfo and Greater Kennedy Plaza are partnering for a 3rd year to create FREE weekly summer events for families in downtown Providence comprised of Storytime and Art in the Park.

Storytime invites families to bring a blanket and enjoy different storytellers under the trees near the fountain in Burnside Park adjacent to Kennedy plaza. The event will feature at least one story each Thursday morning from a local Rhode Island author, illustrator or storyteller.

Art in the Park, which follows Storytime, encourages children to make and participate in their own storytelling through art. Created by Rhode Island author and illustrator, Alison Paul, this year’s summer-long project, “Providence in the Purple Crayon,” inspired by the classic children’s book Harold and the Purple Crayon. Children work with different guest artists and explore a range of mediums from paint to collage.

This Thursday, July 5 will be a Special Theme Day including an Independence Day Picnic with Ranger John McNiff as Roger Williams from Roger Williams National Memorial
