Kim Francis is the Chief Nursing Officer and Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services at Women & Infants Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. Kim joined the hospital in June of 2022 with over 32 years of progressive leadership experience in nursing. Kim began her nursing career as a staff nurse working her way up to Assistant Nurse Manager at Women and Infants from 1990 to 2006, so returning to her professional healthcare roots as CNO has been especially rewarding.

Learn MoreBefore joining the leadership team at Women and Infants Hospital, Kim was previously employed at Massachusetts General Hospital from 2008 to 2022, where she held various roles including as an Instructor, NRP, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Director, and Nurse Researcher.
She served as the Nurse Director of the Postpartum, Level 1 Nursery, Antepartum, Special Care Nursery, and Interim Director for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Labor & Delivery Unit at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
Over the years Kim’s academic appointment include: Adjunct Assistant Professor at Massachusetts General Hospital’s Institute for Health Professionals and a Clinical Instructor of Nursing and Term Lecturer of Nursing at Boston College.
In 2020, Kim earned the prestigious Massachusetts Excellence in Nursing Research Award from the American Nurses Association.
Kim is a proud graduate of the last class for Newport Hospital of Nursing where she earned her diploma in Nursing. She furthered her education at Salve Regina University where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree, and Boston College where she earned both her Master of Science degree in Nursing and a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing.
Her postdoctoral training includes the Yvonne Munn Post-Doctoral Nursing Research Fellowship, Haley Nurse Scientist Fellowship, the Connell Nursing Research Scholars program and attending the NINR Artificial Intelligence (AI) Methodologies Boot Camp.
She is a resident of Cranston, Rhode Island.
