Kopin wins $3.2 million Army contract

Taunton, Mass.-based Kopin Corp., an electronics manufacturer,
recently received an order valued at $3.2 million to develop ultra-high
resolution color microdisplays for the U.S. Army. The award comes to
Kopin through the Army’s Future Force Warrior Program, which is
intended to improve battlefield effectiveness and survivability by
incorporating technological breakthroughs in miniaturized electronics and
other products.

Under the two-year agreement, Kopin will develop an
enhanced full-color version of its monochrome active matrix liquid crystal
display. The warrior program is designed to improve battlefield effectiveness and survivability by incorporating technological breakthroughs in miniaturized electronics, wireless communications, nano-textiles and ultra-low-power communications systems into soldiers’ equipment and uniforms.
