KVH gets $6.7M in new orders for its military navigation systems

MIDDLETOWN – KVH Industries Inc. of Middletown announced Wednesday it has received two orders totaling $6.7 million for its tactical navigation systems for military vehicles.

“The system serves as a crucial resource for navigation and battle management, and as an alternative source of heading, position, and navigation in GPS-denied environments, helping keep soldiers safe and out of harm’s way wherever they travel,” Dan Conway, executive vice president of the company’s inertial navigation group, said in the announcement.

The TACNAV systems provide “unjammable” precision navigation, heading, and pointing data for vehicle drivers, crew, and commanders. The systems also serve as a heading and position source for “situational awareness,” the company said.

“KVH’s TACNAV tactical navigation solution provides precision navigation as well as coordination of military vehicles in critical situations,” Conway said.

KVH, which trades its stock on the Nasdaq exchange under the symbol “KVHI,” designs and manufactures mobile connectivity and inertial navigation systems.

Revenue from one of the new orders will be completed this year, while revenue from the other order will begin in late 2019 and continue through 2021, the company said.

The company reported a revenue of $39.2 million in the second quarter of 2019 and a loss of $3.5 million for the quarter.

Founded in 1982 and based in Middletown, KVH has research, development, and manufacturing operations in Middletown, Tinley Park, Ill., and more than a dozen offices around the globe.
