Learn All About It Toys to participate in annual National Neighborhood Toy Store Day
Warwick, RI, October 14, 2011 – On Friday, November 11th 2011, Learn All About It Toys, will celebrate Neighborhood Toy Store Day, an event to be celebrated by more than 500 stores across the country throughout that weekend. “The inaugural Neighborhood Toy Store Day celebrations in 2010 exceeded our expectations. We hope even more families will enjoy the fun-filled activities planned all across the country” said Kathleen McHugh, President of ASTRA (the American Specialty Toy Retail Association)
Learn All About It Toys will be offering a number of free events throughout the day, highlighted by a music performance at 10:30am by Jamie Barrett, a music teacher who has appeared at the store a number of times. There will be free crafts and face painting, as well. In addition, to launch the Toys for Tots program for 2011, there will be a United States Marine officer stationed with the Toys for Tots box for part of the day. Any donations purchased at the store will receive a 10% discount and any monetary donations will be used by the officer to purchase additional toys for the kids.

This nationwide event, held every year on the second Saturday of November, reminds consumers of the importance of independent toy stores and the value of shopping within their local community. “Our members are part of your neighborhood,” said McHugh. “They care about their customers and take the time to help them select just the right toy to help their children grow and learn through play.”
Shopping at neighborhood and independent retailers not only increases consumer choice, it also preserves local jobs and local character. According to the 3/50 Project, for every $100 spent in local, independently-owned stores, $68 returns to the community in the form of taxes, salaries, charitable contributions and more–in contrast with only $43 dollars when consumers spend their money at a national chain.
McHugh urged shoppers to take this opportunity to be part of a celebration of community and to get to know their neighborhood toy store on national Neighborhood Toy Store Day: “I’m confident they will discover a universe of play possibilities, right in their own neighborhood.”
