LIN Television announces third-quarter results

PROVIDENCE — LIN Television Corporation and LIN Holdings Corp. reported financial results for the quarter ended Sept. 30. Pro forma net revenues for the quarter were $63.7 million, a 12.1 percent decline compared to pro forma net revenues of $72.5 million during the third quarter of 2000. Pro forma broadcast cash flow was $22.1 million, a 29.5 percent decrease from pro forma broadcast cash flow for the quarter of $31.3 million during the 2000 comparable period.

Pro forma results reflect the acquisitions of WWLP-TV, WLFI-TV and WJPX-TV, and the disposal of WAND-TV, as if they had occurred Jan. 1, 2000. LIN’s pro forma net loss was $19.6 million for the quarter compared to a pro forma net loss of $6.5 million for the 2000 third quarter. Debt outstanding on Sept. 30, 2001 was $1.065 billion and cash balances were $22.0 million. During the quarter, cash balances were drawn down to finance the $26.0 million acquisition of WNLO-TV in Buffalo, New York and the $11.7 million acquisition of three stations in Puerto Rico.
