NORTH PROVIDENCE, RI; NOVEMBER, 14th, 2012 – The destruction from Hurricane Sandy to the Jersey Shore hits close to home for one local Rhode Island business, Jersey Mike’s Subs.
An authentic sub shop with four locations in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, the national Jersey Mike’s franchise started in Point Pleasant, NJ and maintains its headquarters in nearby Manasquan. Both of these towns and many others along the shore were pummeled by the superstorm, and thousands of families are reeling in the aftermath.
Two local business partners that own the MA and RI Jersey Mike’s stores are rallying their customers to help those devastated by the storm.
On Sunday, November, 25th and Sunday December 1st, ten percent of all sales throughout MA and RI will be donated to the Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, an organization that provides food for families in crisis on the Jersey Shore. Customers can also donate directly to the Foodbank beginning on Wednesday, November 14th when Jersey Mike’s will start accepting donations in the stores.
“Even in these tough economic times, our incredibly loyal customers pull through whenever we raise funds for local causes,” said co-owner of the MA & RI Jersey Mike’s, Sean Sullivan, “Now, many are asking how they can help our friends in New Jersey. We are hopeful the efforts we have planned will help comfort those in need.”
Jersey Mike’s, a fast-casual restaurant franchise, started in 1956 and currently has more than 750 locations open and under development nationwide. It serves authentic subs with premium meats and cheeses that are always fresh sliced, on high quality bread that is always fresh baked. The Massachusetts (Raynham, MA) and Rhode Island (North Providence & Warwick, RI) stores are independently owned by two local franchisees who joined Jersey Mike’s following successful professional sports-related careers that included time in the front offices of the New York Yankees, Buffalo Sabres and Providence Bruins.
