Longtime PC professor chosen for fellowship in Israel

PROVIDENCE – Mary O’Keefe, chair of the psychology department at Providence College, is one of 23 full-time professors chosen from United States-based colleges and universities to take part in the inaugural Winter Faculty Fellowship program in Israel, according to a late November release by the Catholic college.

A Chepachet resident, O’Keeffe has taught at PC since 1991.

Fellows from diverse disciplines will visit Israel for 11 days over the current winter break (Dec. 27 to Jan. 9) and connect with scholars from Israel who are performing similar research. The U.S.-based academics will also experience contemporary Israeli society and culture firsthand and travel to historic sites throughout the region.

A competitive academic fellowship, the program is sponsored by the Jewish National Fund and Media Watch International.
