Buying a diamond doesn’t have to be an overwhelming experience. The Diamond Bar LLC, a newly opened retail jeweler in Providence, is adding cheer to the four-Cs of diamonds – carat, cut, clarity and color – with an in-store bar and relaxed atmosphere.
The business, owned by Steve and Zhabrina Maniscalco, opened in February at 387 Wickenden St.
The store features lab-grown, or synthetic, and mined diamonds, as well as jewelry repair, appraisal and design services. In addition to rings, the couple sells necklaces and other gemstones.
As an independent retailer, Steve Maniscalco said he can offer specialized service. And Zhabrina Maniscalco is fluent in Spanish.
“We are the young, fun, hip, bilingual jewelry store, with a bar in the store,” Steve Maniscalco said.
This year, the market for engagement diamonds is predominantly millennial buyers who want a ring that is beautiful and well-crafted but not over-the-top. Stylistically, many want a simple look.
“A thin, classic diamond band with a single stone on top,” Steve Maniscalco said. “Stylistically, it’s about showcasing the diamond.”
