WESTPORT – The Mass. Department of Public Health has announced a recall of certain soft cheeses, known as Portuguese Cheese, made by the Martin Cheese Co.
The cheeses involved are all soft cheeses made with both cow and goat milk. They are sold in ethnic markets and other stores in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and may be packaged either in hard plastic containers or in plastic wrap.
Businesses and individuals who have purchased these products are advised to discard them.
No illnesses have been linked to the cheeses, the department said, but testing by state health officials found that it had not been properly pasteurized.
