Massage therapist’s license suspended after having sex with patient

PROVIDENCE – A local massage therapist had his license suspended for three months by the R.I. Department of Health due to having inappropriate relations with a patient.

According to the consent order signed Monday by RIDOH Center for Professional Boards and Licensing Chief Bruce Todesco, Anthony Conti had sexual intercourse with a patient while providing massage services on July 28. The actions violated multiple national massage standards of practice and codes of ethics.

Conti signed the consent order, which waived his right to a hearing on the matter. Conti is ordered to complete six hours of ethics training in addition to the six hours of education needed for his license to be renewed – and must be done no later than 45 days after his suspension took effect, per the order.

Conti can reapply for his license after his suspension. If his license is reinstated, it will be subject to a one-year probation.
