Mearthane Products acquires Va.-based plastics fabricator

CRANSTON – Mearthane Products Corp. has acquired Creative Urethanes Inc., a plastics fabrications company based in Winchester, Va., the company announced Thursday.

Mearthane said that the acquired company’s manufacturing processes and product lines are complementary to Mearthane’s practices and products and will allow MPC to expand into new markets.

“Creative’s RIM and cast urethane businesses expand the breadth of capabilities we can offer our current customers and will help us grow in new markets,” said Pete Kaczmarek, president of MPC. “Moreover, this combination strengthens our position in the recreational and industrial wheel markets and opens new opportunities for Creative’s Durastatic abrasion resistant piping system.”

Creative Urethane will continue to operate out of Virginia. The company’s previous owners Richard and Thomas Heitfield have retired following the acquisition. The company was said to grow MPC’s ranks by 20 employees.
