Meditech to acquire PtCT for undisclosed sum

WESTWOOD, Mass. – Health-care information systems provider Meditech yesterday announced plans to acquire long-time partner PtCT, an Atlanta-based provider of home health, private duty and hospice care, telehealth services and benchmarking software.

The transaction’s details were not disclosed.

Lawrence A. Polimeno, vice chairman of Meditech, will add the role of PtCT president and CEO after the deal closes, the company said.

“This acquisition was spurred by the long relationship between the two companies and PtCT’s development of exciting, innovative solutions for the home care industry,” Polimeno said.

“Both companies write software using the same technologies, and two members of our board of directors are long-time members of PtCT’s board of directors,” he said. The companies’ relationship dates back to PtCT’s founding, he added, as does Meditech’s partial ownership of the other company.

“This acquisition is about providing PtCT with both the short-term and long-term resources to allow us to continue to develop and deliver leading-edge software,” said Mark Braunstein, who founded the company together with Steve Miller. Both said they will remain with the company after the acquisition.
