What led you to choose health care as your profession? I would definitely need more than a few sentences to explain this thoroughly, but long story short, I’ve known since I was little that I wanted to be in the medical field. My affinity for the elderly has driven my desire to care for the aging population and I will continue to do so once I graduate with my advanced practice degree next year.

How have you helped boost the quality of or access to health care? I simply treat each and every person with kindness and compassion while utilizing my critical thinking skills. I also mentor and train new graduates on how to provide the best possible care to our valuable and vulnerable populations. [I also] conduct quality improvement projects to promote small but positive changes on our inpatient units in hope to optimize the care we deliver.

What is the biggest challenge you and your organization are facing this year? Staffing and retention.

Tell us one thing that most people don’t know about you. I am a nearly seven-year, triple-negative, BRCA1 positive breast cancer warrior and I live on a farm where I sell free-range eggs and delicious wildflower honey.
