Miriam to break ground on patient services center

The Miriam Hospital in Providence is holding a groundbreaking for its new Patient Services Center at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25. The event signifies the start of “Project Miriam Makeover” – a three-phase project to renovate the hospital.

Phase one of the project is the construction of the Patient Services Center, which will house a surgical suite with 10 operating rooms, a diagnostic imaging suite, cafeteria, conference rooms and 36 private patient care rooms.

Speaking during the event will be members of the hospital’s leadership and invited guests, including: Kathleen C. Hittner, MD, president and CEO; Jeffrey Brier, chairman of the Miriam Hospital board of trustees; Sandra Coletta, senior vice president and COO; and local politicians, among others.

The event will conclude with a ceremonial groundbreaking and unveiling of the architectural renderings of the Patient Services Center, the hospital said. Miriam is part of the Lifespan health care network, which also includes Rhode Island Hospital, Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Bradley Hospital and Newport Hospital.
