NORTH KINGSTOWN – MOCINGBIRD, founded last year by doctors seeking to make it easier for physicians and other health care professionals to manage professional education requirements, officially cut the ribbon at its North Kingstown office earlier this month.

The company now operates out of The Mill at Lafayette, a repurposed historic mill.

Co-founders Dr. Ian Madom, an orthopedic spine surgeon, and Dr. George Fernaine, an interventional cardiologist, created a platform that manages requirements to maintain professional licenses by allowing health care professionals to track and store continuing-education credits. The cloud-based system also ensure that clinicians remain current on all maintenance of certification, or MOC, requirements.

“Not only is MOCINGBIRD looking to better the lives of busy clinicians by simplifying a necessary but often convoluted process, but we are also committed to contributing to the community in which we are based,” said MOCINGBIRD CEO Brad Artery. “To that end, we have hired several paid interns from local colleges and universities. In addition to earning a wage, they are gaining valuable life experience that will help them prosper in their future professional lives.”
