Morning Consult: Raimondo approval ratings remain low

PROVIDENCE – In a quarterly Morning Consult poll released last week, Gov. Gina M. Raimondo’s approval rating of 40% ranked among the lowest in the nation, only ahead of Kentucky Gov. Mat Bevin (33%) and Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont (33%).

Raimondo had the second highest disapproval rating in the nation, among governors, as well, at 50%, edging out Bevin at 52% disapproval.

Raimondo’s approval rating was the same as Gov. JB Pritzker of Illinois and Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam.

Eight of the 10 lowest approval ratings in the nation were Democrats. Bevin and Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy were the only two Republicans polling in the bottom 20% of governors.

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker remained on top of the approval ratings with a 73% approval rating and a 14% disapproval rating. The top 10 governors in the poll were Republicans.

  • Vermont: Phil Scott, R: 59%
  • Maine: Janet Mills, D: 50%

  • Connecticut: Gov. Ned Lamont, D: 33%
