Business Women Awards 2022
Woman to Watch Professional Services Suzanne Morrow, IMT Services LLC
Suzanne Morrow was new to the travel insurance industry when she joined Warwick-based IMT Services LLC, doing business as InsureMyTrip, in 2016.
Now, she’s the company’s first woman senior vice president, the second-highest position at IMT, which claims to be America’s first and largest travel insurance comparison company.
Leading through challenging times, mentoring others and clearly communicating travel insurance coverage benefits to travelers through national media has propelled Morrow.
“That’s Suzanne,” said Julie Loffredi, InsureMyTrip public relations director.
Morrow is a unique brand of candid, no-nonsense, Generation X businesswoman who doesn’t mince words. “No” is not in her vocabulary.
“Maybe it’s the military,” Morrow said. “I very much feel that saying ‘No’ to my boss is not a thing.”
Morrow, from South Kingstown, joined the U.S. Air Force after high school and was based in Nebraska and Germany. There, the “20-nothing” honed her communications skills presenting 52-slide, dual-screen, cutting-edge multimedia intelligence briefings to military commanders.
“It scared the bejesus out of me to get in front of audiences and present,” Morrow said. “That’s part of why I did it. I look back now and say, ‘Wow!’ ”
Morrow concluded eight years of active duty as a senior airman, leaving to pursue her goal to earn her bachelor’s degree by age 30. Soon, she was juggling her classes with a new commission, serving with the Rhode Island Air National Guard through 2010, when she retired as a captain.
Meanwhile, following graduation with her information science degree from Johnson & Wales University’s School of Technology, she began working as the school’s practicum coordinator, arranging internships and teaching part time.
Realizing she enjoys educating others, Morrow transitioned into corporate training, then worked remotely for several companies before joining IMT as client services program manager. She was promoted to product and services director in 2017 and to vice president of business development in 2021 before becoming senior vice president earlier this year.
“If you think about my crazy career, how I’ve rapidly moved up – six years from being a manager to a senior-level executive – what’s the next thing?” Morrow said. “CEO, or C-level something.”
