1. Atlantic Mills up for sale, again POSTED ONLINE: AUG. 9. After the city of Providence spent years trying to preserve Atlantic Mills, the property is back on the market. The Providence Redevelopment Agency entered into a purchase and sales contract with the owner, Howard & Eleanor Brynes LLC, in 2022. But a year after the city requested information for firms to help rehabilitate the building, the property owner declined to extend the contract.

2. Market Basket owner buys Seekonk movie theater property POSTED ONLINE: AUG. 5. DeMoulas Super Markets Inc., the operator of Market Basket supermarkets, has purchased the Commerce Way property currently occupied by Showcase Cinemas Seekonk on Route 6 for $9.5 million. Seekonk Town Planner John J. Aubin III said the office is “aware of the sale, but we haven’t received any submissions [for] the site.”

Department of Health’s Division of Healthcare Quality and Safety suspended the license of a Pawtucket nursing home administrator for allegedly engaging in behavior constituting “gross unprofessional conduct.” Among other alleged violations, RIDOH alleges Kristine Pacheco of Pawtucket Falls Healthcare Center directed that employee “to return to work cooking in the kitchen” on Aug. 3 and Aug. 4 before the required seven days of isolation after testing positive for COVID-19.
