
1. Road, bridge contractor Cardi Corp. going out of business
POSTED ONLINE: DEC. 14 Cardi Corp., a significant player in taxpayer-funded road projects across the state for decades, has gone out of business, according to a report from WJAR-TV NBC 10. Cardi told WJAR-TV in March that it was having financial issues. However, the company said at the time it would finish all of its projects, including the Route 37 overhaul in Cranston.

2. I-195 district panel chooses Riverside as developer for Parcel 1A
POSTED ONLINE: DEC. 20 Despite strong support for preserving the location of the popular Providence Flea, the I-195 Redevelopment District Commission chose Riverside Partners LLC as the developer for Parcel 1A. Riverside and Providence Flea were among four developers that submitted bids for the narrow property on the riverfront and has been home to Providence Flea LLC.

3. PBN acquired by Woodward Communications Inc.; Brisson named publisher
POSTED ONLINE: DEC. 12 Providence Business News has been acquired by Iowa-based Woodward Communications Inc., an employee-owned company, and Annemarie Brisson has been promoted to publisher. Roger Bergenheim, who co-founded PBN with his late father, Robert C. Bergenheim, in 1986 and has since served as the publication’s president and publisher, is retiring but will work as a consultant to the new owners for the next year.

4. Building in Narragansett Business Park sells for $8.95M

5. Lauderdale Building in Providence sells for $2.35M
