2. Alex and Ani sues Bank of America for lending discrimination POSTED ONLINE: JULY 25. Rhode Island-based jewelry maker Alex and Ani LLC filed a lawsuit in United States District Court against Bank of America Corp., seeking $1.1 billion in damages. The company claims the bank declared Alex and Ani in default without warning, resulting in the jewelry maker to have more than $1 billion in expenses, lost revenue and a reduced market value.

3. WalletHub: R.I. worst state in U.S. to start a business POSTED ONLINE: JULY 8. Finance company WalletHub, in its 2019 Best and Worst States to Start a Business metrics report, ranked Rhode Island as the worst state in the United States to start a business. 4. 3 R.I. eateries named to OpenTable’s 2019 most scenic restaurants list POSTED ONLINE: JULY 19.
