PROVIDENCE – As inaugural director of the Center at Moore Hall, Shan Mukhtar will help Providence College develop a vision for the school’s new cultural arts center centered on diversity, equity and inclusion.

When the Princeton Review findings were published in August, PC said they found the ranking “somewhat suspect.”
Also serving as a member of the school’s Office of Institutional Diversity, Mukhtar has a background in diversity research and programming. Most recently, she served as assistant director of English as a Second Language at Emory University in Atlanta.
She holds a master’s and doctorate from Emory critical race and ethnic studies from Emory and a bachelor’s in English and creative writing from Georgia State University.
Built in 1947 and re-opened in November 2017, after a renovation, the Center at Moore Hall is a cultural space that promotes diverse interactions and facilitates community-based social change.
