What fun activities does your company offer employees to participate in? We host an annual holiday party at the CEO’s home in Providence – open to spouses and plus-ones, complete with a photo booth, ping-pong and shuffleboard tournaments, and prizes. We also run a monthly Music League where employees vote on a company playlist winner, now in Season 25, and field running teams in local races wearing matching Nabsys jerseys.
How would you describe the culture of your workplace? Our culture is defined by four authentic brand values: first-principles thinking, ideas over hierarchy, we’re the good guys, and science over fear. Our mission – to reveal the shape of the genomic world to power science for all – was shaped by a cross-functional team and reflects who we truly are.
Do you prefer promoting existing staff or hiring from outside and why? We strongly prefer promoting from within. We hire carefully for cultural fit and cross-functional skill, invest heavily in each team member, and give every employee an equity stake because we believe the best leaders are the ones we grow ourselves.
