Eric Nadelman has made a career selling storage.
The Warwick resident sells IBM’s data software and hardware platforms. In March, he added a side hustle selling physical storage options as local equity partner for Patriot State Storage in Providence. Nadelman, who’s worked in the tech industry for the last decade and went to school for professional golf management, has no experience in owning a business but said his sales skills helped him break even on the investments made in the storage company less than five months after opening.
It helps that Nadelman has two partners who run their own storage facilities in the Midwest.
Nadelman described the Hartford Avenue storage facility opening as “rocky” due to his lack of experience and familiarity with business regulations, but the business quickly blossomed, with customers ranging from out-of-state college students returning home after universities closed campuses to small-business owners whose stores were shuttered.
Automation letting people choose and book one of the 300 climate-controlled storage units or parking spaces completely online has been an advantage amid continued social distancing.
Storage units cost roughly $50 to $200 per month
